Oman-A Nation on the Move hits the stands

United Media Services (UMS) has published the 2019 edition of its annual bilingual publication, OmanA Nation on the Move, which takes a look at the path-breaking reforms and the transformation journey of the Sultanate under the dynamic and visionary leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

The 2019 edition, brought out to mark the 49th National Day, focusses on the decisions taken by His Majesty and the Government to provide an integrated and attractive environment that will attract investments to boost the competitiveness of the Omani economy and give a greater role to the private sector in terms of absorbing more job seekers and diversifying the Omani economy as per the objectives of Oman 2040 vision.

Published since 2005, OmanA Nation on the Move, has been highlighting for the past 15 years the strides taken by the country in diverse fields. The annual publication is dedicated to His Majesty’s endeavour to transform Oman into a modern state with a well-developed infrastructure, vibrant economy and peaceful society, offering the highest living standards to the people of the country.

Oman Vision 2020, emphasises industrialisation, privatisation and Omanisation. Logistics, tourism, mining, fisheries and industrial manufacturing have all been identified as potential future economic drivers, and will be the focus of development under Vision 2040. The promulgation of several impending laws such as Public Private Partnership, Foreign Capital Investment, Privatisation, Bankruptcy, Establishing the Public Authority for Privatisation and Partnership will act as a catalyst to improve the business and investment environment, giving a much-needed impetus to the diversification and private sector-led growth in the Sultanate and OMAN – A Nation on the Move has chronicled such initiatives. All the new laws are essentially interlinked and integral to the goal of driving foreign investment inflows into the Sultanate.

The publication also presents a first-hand account of the progress made by the Sultanate in key sectors including oil & gas, manufacturing, telecommunications, investment, banking, finance, insurance, logistics and infrastructure. The Ambassadors of the prominent countries, including United States of America, in their own words, describe the growing bilateral economic bond with Oman and the factors that make their states committed to work jointly with Oman’s Government and the private sector.
