Launch Dates for Manah Solar Powerplants Pushed by One Year
Oman: The Government of Oman’s project planned procurement of two large-scale solar-powered facilities for utilities has been deemed to be on track however, the implementation costs and commercial operations timelines have been pushed by one year, each.
The Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP), The Manah Independent Projects (IPPs), known as Manah I and Manah II IPPs, will each have a capacity of 500 MW. They are now due to be inaugurated for commercial operations towards the end of 2023 and 2024, respectively – a year later than anticipated.
The announcement was made during the annual media briefing conducted by the parent holding company of OPWP – The Nama Group. As a testament to the size of the venture, as many as nine international companies have pre-qualified for the competitive tenders released by OPWP.
