Masira Island Resort, managed by Dhiaffa a member of the OMRAN Group, is a well-kept secret in Oman. The resort is known for its wildlife and miles of isolated sandy beaches. It is also a popular destination for windsurfing and kite boarding, thanks to the favourable wind and sea conditions.
Located 15kms off the southeast coast of Oman on the Arabian Peninsula, the island is home to four of Oman’s nesting species of turtles and is world famous as the home of the largest population of loggerhead turtles. The island is magnificently diverse and offers a wide range of nautical sports with excursions into the nearby deserts and hills.
A boutique resort with 22 well-appointed rooms, suites and chalets offering breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea, complete with private balconies and easy access to the pool and beach. Facilities include the beach-facing Dhow Restaurant offering buffets and a la carte dining, enjoying an international menu with a selection of freshly caught local fish daily. Two bars cater to the sports minded, or socialites enjoying cocktails and sumptuous finger foods. An outdoor pool, temperature controlled Jacuzzi, fitness centre and children’s play area complete the facilities.
The hotel offers four types of accommodation including Deluxe, Premier, Executive Suite and Chalets.   Deluxe and Premier Rooms are each 40 sqm with king or twin beds and pool or sea views. Executive Suites are ideal for families with separate living room and bedroom, two full bathrooms and private balconies with pool and sea view. Chalets are generously sized at 121 sqm with separate living and bedroom, dining facility and well equipped kitchenette with microwave, hotplate and refrigerator. Chalets also enjoy a dedicated paring area, and are all sea facing.
Activity is the main reason to visit Masira Island Resort, whether walking along the kilometres of uninterrupted beach, Loggerhead Turtle watching, bird watching or enjoying the wind and waves for kit and windsurfing, outdoor activity abounds. There is also a resort wildlife museum, table tennis, basketball, beach volleyball, fishing and snorkelling.
A fully equipped meeting room accommodates up to 75 guests in theatre style, making this an ideal corporate retreat.
The drive from Muscat to Masirah is around 450 kms, and takes roughly 4 hours. The island is accessible via car and passenger ferry from Shannah.
