Kuwait Bans Entry For Non-Citizens; Imposes Night Curfew

The State of Kuwait has imposed strict restrictions in a bid to curb the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) after the number of cases surged over the last week.

In a decision issued yesterday [February 3], the government stated that it will impose a night curfew on all commercial activities, barring a few, starting from Thursday, February 4, 2021.

The night curfew will begin at 8:00 pm and will end at 5:00 am. Pharmacies, food shopping outlets, health, and catering supply chains will be exempted from the curfew.

The Government also took the decision to close the borders to non-Kuwaitis for a period of two weeks, starting from next Sunday. However, first-degree relatives, such as parents and children, and accompanying domestic workers would be exempt from the entry ban.

Kuwait registered 756 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. This marked a sharp spike in infections with a 7-day infection average of 650.
