OER To Host Business Summit 2020 On December 16

The 11th edition of OER Business Summit, a flagship event by the Sultanate’s premium business magazine, will take place on December 16, 2020 at Sheraton Oman.

Under the topic “Vision 2040: Charting a roadmap to Blessed Renaissance 2.0,” this year’s edition will focus on Oman’s roadmap for the future in line with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s futuristic plan – Vision 2040.

It will deliberate in detail the national economic priorities outlined in the vision document such as economic diversification and fiscal sustainability, enabling the private sector to drive a competitive economy that is integrated with the world economy and to create a dynamic labour market that is attractive to talent and responsive to demographic, economic, knowledge and technical changes.

The Summit will also do a deep dive into the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and low oil prices.

OER Business Summit is an annual forum bringing together Oman’s senior government officials, influential policy makers, and top-notch corporate for an engaging discussion on policy initiatives, new economic trends, the role of private sector, and the changing dynamics of growth in the country.

Business leaders, senior government officials and international experts will deliberate on a roadmap to negotiate the ongoing economic crisis and how to come out stronger on the other side through incisive presentations and interactive panel discussions.

The Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm (SEZAD) and Oman Manufacturers Association are the endorsement partners of the Summit, which is organised by UMS Events.

The Summit will also deliberate on strategic economic direction that Oman needs to pursue for a well-diversified, sustainable, and competitive economy that is based on knowledge and innovation; ways in which a competitive economy that is future-oriented and driven by innovation and entrepreneurship can be fostered; a regulatory environment that is flexible and ensures equal opportunities for companies and individuals; an economy that is integrated with the world and the first choice for international investment; and challenges owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and low oil prices and ways in which these can be negotiated by businesses.

Nurturing talent is one of the key pillars of His Majesty Haitham Bin Tarik’s vision 2040 for the development of Oman.

This year’s HR conference celebrates the Talent development Journey of Oman and discusses the key success factors and challenges in managing talent considering the dynamics predicted in the HR arena in the next decade and also added challenges which have been brought forth due to the economic meltdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The areas of discussion will include – tracing Oman’s talent development journey; building a talent development plan; Key drivers/enablers of a talent development plan; the key role of well-being and mental health during and post COVID-19 and calculating ROI on talent development projects.

OER Business Excellence Awards 2020 and OER HR Awards 2020 will also be presented at the Business Summit. The awards will recognise exceptional organisations and individuals that deliver tangible results.
