Oman – A Contender For ICC World T20 Host

Muscat: Oman Cricket and The International Cricket Council (ICC) alongside The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), are in talks over hosting some of the T20 International (T20I) matches in Oman for the vaunted T20 World Cup which is scheduled to be conducted, later this year.

With the BCCI receiving a deadline from the ICC, stating its suitability to continue hosting the event due to the ongoing effects of the Pandemic, other locations besides the UAE, which is on standby, are being considered as possible venues.

Oman Cricket’s Secretary, Madhu Jesrani commented, ““We have been approached by ICC and the chairman of Oman Cricket, Pankaj Khimji, is in talks with the BCCI which is due to host the tournament.” 

Oman Cricket is a wholly business run venture run by the Khimji Ramdas conglomerate, which is an Indian Origin – Omani Business family.

Oman Cricket is awaiting the judgement of the ICC over its deadline issued to the BCCI which, expires on the 28th of June, 2021.
