Oman Officially Receives its Pavilion at “Expo 2020” Dubai

Dubai: Mohsin Khamis al-Balushi, Advisor to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and Commissioner-General of the Sultanate at Expo 2020 Dubai, officially received the National Pavilion of the Sultanate of Oman at “Expo 2020” Dubai from the main contracting company charged with the construction and preparation works of the pavilion.

Oman’s pavilion is ready to receive visitors of the Expo a month and a half before its launch. Expo 2020 is scheduled to start on 1 October 2021 and will continue till 31 March 2022.

The handover of the Pavilion took place during the visit of al-Balushi to the headquarters of Expo 2020 Dubai, to review the progress of work at the pavilion in preparation for its official opening.

The Sultanate’s pavilion was built and equipped according to the implementation plan set by the Commission General of the Sultanate’s Pavilion in coordination with the Contracting Company and the Organizing Committee.

The pavilion is inspired by the frankincense tree, which played a leading role in promoting Omani trade in the ancient civilizations and the design tells the story of Oman throughout history.

The pavilion is divided into five sections that simulate in their content the life cycle of frankincense, syncing with the three sub-themes of Expo 2020 Dubai, which are Mobility, Sustainability and Opportunity.

Young Omani competencies from the Innovation Factory Company carried out the design, manufacture and implementation of devices, equipment and technologies that will be used in telling and reviewing the content of the pavilion’s story.

The design and content selection take the visitors of the Omani pavilion on an educational and recreational journey, which is also interesting and entertaining.

It is worth noting that the Sultanate will participate in Expo 2020 Dubai alongside 192 countries and regional and international organizations under the theme ” Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”.

The Sultanate seeks, through its participation, to embody the achievements of Oman civilization throughout history, as well as highlighting its current achievements, renewed renaissance and future aspirations under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik.

The Expo is considered among the oldest and most important global events in terms of the magnitude of the event and the interest of the global media.
