OQ Inks Agreement to Provide Medical Equipment for Differently Abled People

    Muscat: Integrated energy group OQ has signed an agreement with Omani Association for Persons with Disabilities to purchase medical equipment for those with motor disability.

    The agreement was signed by Maryam al Shaibani, vice-president for IT, Technology and Digital Transformation, and acting vice-president of Corporate Identity at OQ, and Haider bin Muhammad Jawad al Lawati, vice-chairman of Omani Association for Persons with Disabilities.

    Commenting on the agreement, Maryam said, “OQ is proud of its continuous contributions in supporting NGOs that provide exceptional services to persons with disabilities to integrate these groups into society and to empower them to lead a better life. This support also aims to alleviate the suffering of people dealing with such disabilities by providing medical supplies and assistance that help them to lead a better life.”

    She added that the provision of such equipment to the association’s beneficiaries will enable them to enhance productivity, which will ultimately have a direct and indirect benefit on society.

    “While we at OQ aim through such initiatives to empower persons with disabilities and enhance their contribution, we call upon all institutions to extend the required support to this important section of our society.”

    She informed that OQ pays close attention to social aspects within the framework of its social investment programme.

    On his part, Lawati expressed his gratitude for OQ’s assistance to the association. He also pointed out the importance of the support in helping this section of society overcome disabilities, and called on all to join hands and contribute to supporting associations that care for people with special needs.
