The statement that was published on Saturday [October 10] read: “The municipality would like to bring to the attention of the community the importance of shifting to electronic modes of booking vehicle parking slots through the established channels, and those shown on the guidance boards that have been installed.”

Those looking to reserve a parking spot for their car can do so electronically through multiple channels:

1) Booking via text messages:

– Motorists can send an SMS with their vehicle number, code, and the required number of minutes (multiples of 30 and a maximum of 300) to the number 90091.

– Following that, the user will receive a text message confirming the booking; complete with the ticket number, vehicle number, code, and the time allotted for parking.

– If the user wants to extend the time, they must send another message to 90091 and follow the same previous steps.

2) Booking via Baladiyati app:
– The Baladiyati application for smartphones can be used to obtain parking permits for individual vehicles, and for booking parking for a shorter time (eg: a few hours). Users can also renew permits, pay fines through the application or even enquire about pending fines.

3) Booking via the Muscat Municipality website:
– Motorists can also access the Muscat Municipality’s website via the address www.mm.gov.om and issue vehicle parking permits, renew permits, pay fines or even enquire about any pending fines.
