Shell Intilaaqah ‘Bright Ideas’ workshops ignite entrepreneurial sparks
Shell Intilaaqah conducted two ‘Bright Ideas’ workshops in Muscat and Sur recently as part of its Aspire and Inspire Programme’.
The workshops, conducted at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and in Sur Grand Hotel respectively, were held in partnership with Oman LNG to encourage and raise awareness on entrepreneurship and the effective use of creative thinking in businesses.
The training workshop held in Sur focused on arming women with the requisite tools and skills to be able to set up and develop their home businesses. The programme at SQU targeted university and college students from across the country, according to a press release.
Najwa Al Kindi, Director of Shell Intilaaqah Oman, said, “The Bright Ideas workshops help participants make informed decisions, giving them the skills and confidence, they need to take their businesses to the next level. The sessions were also aimed at providing women with various tools to take lead, control and empower themselves as rising businesswomen in the Sultanate.”

During the two-day sessions participants engaged in interactive sessions with experts, who provided them guidance on translating concepts into viable businesses. The participants were also taught how to create and pitch business proposals.
Sultan Al Abri, an SQU graduate said, “During the Bright Ideas workshop, I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge on how to navigate the business industry, learn vital problem-solving skills and gather the right tools to help me pursue my dreams with the guidance of successful experts.”
Since its establishment, Shell Intilaaqah’s Aspire and Inspire programme has trained more than 10,000 young Omanis. It aims to support entrepreneurs through the various stages of their business start-ups, from developing compelling business ideas, to becoming successful business owners. It also provides specialised counselling, mentoring and training on managing cash crises.
