Qatar Airways is Official Airline Partner for Oman Youth Sports Programmes. Signs agreement with Sabco sports
H.E. Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive of Qatar Airways signed an official sponsorship agreement with Sabco Sports Chairman, Sayyid Khalid Bin Hamad Bin Hamoud Al Busaidi.

Qatar Airways, renowned for being sponsors of premier sporting clubs world over, have announced a special partnership with various Oman youth sports programmes.

In a press release, Qatar Airways announced that it would be the Official Airline Partner for three of Oman’s Ministry of Education sports programmes, in addition to the Oman International Youth Cup (OIYC).

H.E. Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive of Qatar Airways signed an official sponsorship agreement with Sabco Sports Chairman, Sayyid Khalid Bin Hamad Bin Hamoud Al Busaidi.

Part of Sabco LLC, Sabco Sports is Oman’s leading sports management, sports event management and sports development management company. Sabco Sports are also the commercial partners for Oman Ministry of Education.

Sports Programmes

  1. The Olympic Programme offers a platform for children from all across the Sultanate to compete in a variety of sports. These include (but are not limited to): athletics, chess, sailing, and volleyball. Qualifying players within each sport advance to the finals. This programme runs from October to March every year.
  2. The Football Programme follows a similar format to that of the Olympic Programme. Qualifying teams from each region compete at the finals that are typically held in Muscat. The Football Programme also run from October to March annually.
  3. The National Obstacle Series (NOS) – a new programme launched by Sabco sports – runs year-round. Students from both public and private schools are invited to participate in the challenge. The NOS scheme was launched to promote a healthier lifestyle among the youth in Oman.

Oman International Youth Cup (OIYC)

The Oman International Youth Cup is a football tournament for Under 9s, Under 11s, Under 13s and Under 15s. Youth from all over the world get the opportunity to showcase their football skills from the heart of the Middle East.

All the aforementioned sports programmes are open to both boys and girls that are enrolled in public schools across Oman, and under 18 years of age.
