BP Oman Contributes to Learning Centre of the National Museum

In celebration of Oman National Day and as part of its Gift to the Nation, BP Oman has signed an agreement with the National Museum to donate an educational curriculum for the learning centre at the museum. This curriculum will be drawn from international best practices in learning centres like the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The agreement was held under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, and Michael Townshend, Regional President BP Middle East, at the Ministry of Heritage and Culture. The agreement was signed by Yousuf Al Ojaili, BP Oman President, and Jamal bin Hassan Al Moussawi, Acting General Director of the National Museum.
The Learning Centre will target children, school and university students, as well as Omani and expatriate families to learn about Omani heritage and culture. It will be comprised of two classrooms, two multi-purpose rooms, a lecture hall and an open-air reception veranda area overlooking the public garden. The centre will be fully equipped with computers with appropriate Arabic software for visually impaired users.
Commenting on the new partnership His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, said “We are pleased to sign this partnership agreement with BP and we thank BP for its generous contribution to the National Museum. The National Museum brings together Omani culture and heritage and we appreciate BP weaving itself into the tapestry of Oman.”
Michael Townshend, Regional President BP Middle East, said “BP is honoured to be supporting the National Museum of Oman – a truly remarkable and unique museum which beautifully shows the history of Oman. The museum, built in partnership with the leading museums from around the world, will undoubtedly be a gem for Omanis and all those visiting Oman. We are proud to give this Gift to the Nation on Oman’s 45th Anniversary.”
BP Oman runs an ambitious social investment program which focuses on education, enterprise development and energy sustainability. Launched in 2014, the program has already benefited over 4,000 Omanis.
