Inflation Averages at 1.59% in Oman

Muscat: The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) reported that the inflation rate for April 2021, had increased by 1.59% compared to last year, for the Consumer Price Index (CPI). 

Additional data confirmed that the month-on-month inflation rate also went up by 1.47% for April 2021. This increase in price is attributed to the rise of prices of main groups such as transportation group (6.46%), tobacco (4.07%), miscellaneous goods and services (3.18%), recreation and culture (1.94%), furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (1.26%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.29%), clothing and footwear (0.15%), education (0.08%), housing, utilities, and other fuels group (0.07%), and health (0.06%).

At the governorate level, the Governorate of Dhofar witnessed the highest increase in inflation (2.09%), followed by the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah (1.75%), the Governorate of A’Dhahirah (1.70%), the Governorate of North Al Batinah (1.66%), the Governorate of Muscat (1.54%), the Governorates of North and South A’Sharqiyah (1.33%), and the Governorate of Al Buraimi (1.23%).
