South Sharqiyah Governor’s Office & Oman LNG Sign Agreement For Development Of Sur Public Park

As a part of its efforts to preserve the environment’s unique biodiversity and transform the coastal landscape of Sur, Oman LNG signed a pivotal agreement with the South Sharqiyah Governor’s Office to fund Sur Public Park.

The estimated cost of the second phase of the ambitious project is RO3mn and the park is set to be a public facility, attracting residents and visitors of Sur and South Sharqiyah Governorate. It is planned to operate as a self-sustaining enterprise, providing exceptional opportunities for entrepreneurship.

Additionally, the park will boost the tourism sector in the “historic” Governorate.

The Sur Public Park, which is aimed at becoming a new tourist destination, will include a number of facilities such as a children’s playground, an amphitheatre, a public library, a butterfly garden, sports fields, an event square, and a pedestrianised pond.

This project is positioned to tie in greatly with Oman Vision 2040 and is aligned with the ‘People and Society’ pillar of the pivotal vision, which in turn aims to develop the health aspect of society. It will address family and community wellbeing and health objectives outlined by the pillar, while also advancing the company’s efforts to boost environmental objectives.

The agreement builds on the support administered by Oman LNG in funding detailed consultancy services during the design phase of the park, which had to encompass numerous preeminent factors to accommodate the needs of the local community.
