Oman Shipping’s new feeder service to connect Jebel Ali

Oman Container Lines (OCL), a subsidiary of Oman Shipping Company (OSC), signed a trade agreement with the Port of Salalah to start a shipping line between the Port of Salalah and Jebel Ali in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The agreement came as part of a new line operated by the company earlier this year. The agreement links the ports of Salalah, Duqm, Sohar and Jebel Ali, in the UAE.
Tariq bin Mohammad al-Junaidi, CEO of OSC and David Gledhill, CEO of the Port of Salalah signed the agreement.
The shipping line, linking the ports of Salalah, Duqm, Sohar and Jebel Ali, will start operation mid-April and the service will be initially every two weeks, to be developed later into a weekly service.
Al-Junaidi said in a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) that OCL has contributed since inception to the provision of shipping lines linking the ports of the Sultanate with regional and international ports. He added that the current line, which is being operated by the company between Jebel Ali Port and Sohar, is serving several shipping companies operating in the area.
David Gledhill welcomed the new service, which Port of Salalah in part of, anticipating that this shipping line would provide an additional gateway for Omani imports and exports by linking the northern ports of the Sultanate with a network of international shipping lines operating from the Port of Salalah, looking forward to cooperation with all stakeholders to promote competitive trade in the Sultanate.
