Tough Mudder heading for Oman

Now here’s an event that’s out to prove that mud is good for your body, and not just for your face. Grandma’s tales and the traditional mud face packs in beauty parlours are passe. Tough Mudder has carried mud to the next level far beyond anything you could’ve imagined. Now you can have fitness and fun all together with a lot of mud. And the best thing of course, is that it is now all set to take off here in Oman. So get set to get sloshed in mud for fitness and fun.

Sabco Sports recently announced a multi-year international licensing partnership with leading sport, active lifestyle and media brand, Tough Mudder Inc.

The partnership will commence with two ‘Tough Mudder’ events being hosted for the first time in the Sultanate.

The highly anticipated event will take place in Muscat on November 30, 2018. Another event the following summer in Salalah is also on Oman’s upcoming Tough Mudder calendar.

An experience unlike any other, Tough Mudder is no ordinary fun run. It’s a teamwork-focused, epic-obstacle-crammed, and muddy fun-filled challenge. The unique experience tests participants toughness and stamina whilst putting a smile on their faces.

Whether participants are seasoned endurance athletes or just starting their fitness journey there is a ‘Tough Mudder’ event made for everyone. The event formats coming to Oman will be the exciting new ‘Tough Mudder 5K’ and the ‘Mini Mudder’ event for children.

It is expected that more event formats will take place in Oman in coming years as the thrilling and challenging event expands in the Sultanate and becomes an anticipated fixture.

Commenting on the upcoming event, Nic Cartwright, Managing Director of Sabco Sports, says: “We believe this will become the biggest participation event in the calendar. ‘Tough Mudder’ is such a fun event that is enjoyed all over the world and Oman has such great venues to host these two events.”

He adds : “We cannot wait to run the first event during the Khareef season in Salalah and make this the best possible event for Salalah.

The Muscat event is going to take place in the heart of the city’s emerging urban development “Madinat Al Irfan” which encompasses, the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre – being developed by our venue partner, Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN).

The land there is the perfect location for the event. We will see a great course, an exciting Mudder Village as well as a link up with the OCEC and other activity on site on the day.  We are very excited to be working with Omran as the Location Partner for the Muscat event, says Cartwright Oman is the second country in the Middle East to host a ‘Tough Mudder’ event, the first being the United Arab Emirates in 2016.
